Curious how little flowers can change someone that much.

–Wendy

The Hibees Queen is a Hibeescus mutation of the Bee Queen. She has a moss covered body and heart shaped flowery mane, wings and crown. This boss mutation is triggered by infecting the Gigantic Beehive by planting at least 10 Flowers of the Cherry Forest around her hive. A Gigantic Ivyscus will grow progressively until the whole hive turns green as the flowers are planted. Picking up the flowers will undo the infection.

Once fully infected, hammering the Gigantic Beehive will summon the Hibees Queen instead of Bee Queen, she will engage the fight by first absorbing the power of the different flowers that grew the Ivyscus then spawn Bloomble Bees before attacking.

A wind of hibiscus petals will also flow in the air during the battle, the radius of this wind indicate an area in which fire will not propagate around. The use of fire is critical to defeat her.

Upon death, the Hibees Queen drops 6 to 11 Royal Jelly, 1 to 2 Bloomycombs, 3 to 4 Bloomy Honey, 1 Stinger, 2 rare Blueprint for the Bundling Wrap and Smoker Fuel, 1 Bloomprint for the Bee Smoker, 1 Hibees Queen Crown and a Sketch for the Hibees Queen Figure.

A Bloom Banner will also appear once the body vanishes, the banner's design is either one of the flower species that wasn't unlocked yet, unlocking it in the process as well as growing one for each available color of this specie around it, or one of the flower used to buff the queen during the fight if all flowers species of the Cherry Forest are already unlocked. The color of the banner however is random with equal chances between red, blue, green and yellow. It can then be dismantled to retrieve both its post and banner to use wherever desired, moving the flowers around it in the process.

Brain.png Behavior

For more information about poison, see Hibeescus.

The Hibees Queen abilities depend on the number and species of flowers planted near the Gigantic Ivyscus. She shares most behaviors from standard Bee Queen: She attacks by initially spawning 4-5 Bloomble Bees at a time, attacking near her. With the Hibees Queen in pursuit. In close range, the Hibees Queen can stab the player with her stinger, dealing 60 damages and applying 3 stacks of poison. Damages taken can be reduced by wearing a Beekeeper Hat but the poison will still fully apply unless the player prevents all incoming damages. Each Primulas increase poison stacks by 0.2.

Her maximum health is increased by 500 for each Tulips and give a regeneration of 10 health every 10 seconds for each Heartflower .

The amount of Bloomble Bees she spawns will increase as her health decreases, reaching up to 8 - or more depending of the number of Peacelilies. She will additionally start boosting her minions by screeching earlier than Bee Queen would do. Boosted Bloomble Bees attack and move much faster. The number of Flowerballs will increase their boosts even more.

Each Pansy will increases the health of the Bloomble Bees by 10, and each Farelilies reduce the loot chance of Bloomy Honey on her guards by 10%.

The Hibees Queen will frequently screech after taking damages, this will sprout some Spiny Bindweeds close to the hive remains and fully grow the previous existing ones. Fully grown Spiny Bindweeds will trigger and trap players and other non flying creatures around them unless they are burning, which cause direct damages and prevent escaping. Each screech will grow half the maximum of weed she can grow, which is equal to 10 by default but increase by 1 per Lys planted.

The radius in which the queen fight around is smaller than Bee Queen would normally tolerate to prevent fighting too far away from the bindweeds spawn perimeter, but if the fight is forced outside from moving the Hibees Queen with her kitting pattern or others, she will drastically increase attack speed until returning in the center.

The Hibees Queen has 4 different phases depending on her health state similar to Bee Queen but the health threshold starts more and more earlier. She will spawn similar amounts of Bloomble Bees on each phase but has a different effect added on the second and last phase :

  • 100% : 3 to 6 Bloomble Bees can be present to minimum and maximum.
  • 80% instead of 75% : 6 to 9 Bloomble Bees, she also replace her main attack with a multi target stab to damage and poison more aggressively.
  • 60% instead of 50% : She will start to screech to boost the Bloomble Bees.
  • 40% instead of 25% : She will boost Bloomble Bees very frequently and summons the Lord of the Fruit Flies to join in the fight who summons Fruit Flies after a while.

Each Fruit Fly in the area increase by 1 the maximum of weed the Hibees Queen can grow , as long as there is at least one Fruit Fly, she will also have the ability to grow Fire Nettles which will damage and overheat careless players that walk over them.

The Bloomy Honey trails left by the Hibees Queen attacks are the same as Bee Queen's honey traits but their slowing effect and the duration of the trail can increase by 5% per Sugarcubes planted.

Poppies planted increase the insanity aura of the Hibees Queen by 100/min per flower, this aura is only active while the guards are buffed.

This board details the extra perks and stats the Hibees Queen, Bloomble Bees and weeds will receive / flower during the fight, most flowers still have increase their effect past 10 unity despite being the minimum of total flower required to start the fight. Which can be taken in account to loot a specific banner design (the color of the banner isn't depending of the flowers used but picked at random) or just to add additional challenge to the fight.

Since there is exclusively one specie of flower present at the start in the Cherry Forest, knowing ahead of time what will be your poison can be useful. Once more flowers are unlocked, it would be recommanded to change and mix the 10 flowers used for the next fights with more favorable ones, either for their effect or to obtain a specific banner design if they are all unlocked.

Tentacle Spike.png Strategy

Unlike regular Hibeescus, the stinger of the Hibees Queen pierces trough the poison protection of Beekeeper Hats but it is still required to negate poison stacks from all of her guards, leaving you with only the 3 then 1.5 stacks of poison added per attacks to deal with. This makes Bloomy Honey and Bloomy Taffy essential to survive the combat, bringing a stock in a dedicated Ice Box would be ideal, but extra Bloomy Honey can be obtained from defeated guards in case of shortage too.

Players can efficiently cure poison by eating one Bloomy Honey for minus 5 stacks of poison every 2 attacks as they should only have 4.5 stacks of poison on them, or endure more poison to focus on dealing damage to the queen and then get rid of a lot of poison with Bloomy Taffy regularly.

Fire is also a viable passive damage source during the fight as all types of Hibeescus take double damage from standing and being covered in flames due to their mossy body. Burning each fully grown Spiny Bindweeds is anyway very effective to disable their traps even while they burn so bringing a multitude of Fire Staves to control the flow of the fight is a must as manually digging the weeds isn't recommanded to avoid triggering the ones nearby and takes a lot more time to do so. Leaving an emergency Torch somewhere around could also prove to be useful in some cases. Bringing some sanity food could also help with the significant difference of sanity loss from casting the fire spells.

It is important to note that springing Spiny Bindweeds damage in addition of trapping players and other creatures. Due to this, and the arrival of the Fruit Flies later in the fight, is would be advised to also bring body armors since Beekeeper Hats does not prevent any damage reduction outside of bee attacks. The Scalemail would be a good option to damage the queen at ease without minding the many flames around.

The only major risk from fire would be to destroy the loot of the Hibees Queen once she is defeated if she is still burning, so it would be wise to avoid burning her directly after the Lord of the Fruit Flies has be summoned or a little afterward depending of how you are performing.

Tactics that consist in using a lot of followers or hostile creatures to deal massive damage to Bee Queen are much less reliable against the Hibees Queen as mobs takes double the amount of damage a player would from Hibees Poison and quickly switch to her AOE attack, which would dismiss them shortly with and without armor but they could still shorten the fight by a bit.

Any other strategy used against Bee Queen is still mostly functional but could get out of hand fast because of the handful of tasks added as getting rid of the weed, dealing from poison and avoiding traps. Consider increasing speed boost as much as possible to get out of most unexpected situations with not just a Walking Cane but a Cherraduceus with a few followers, flying and passive ones such as Cherrylings are much more likely to survive for a while, allowing a lot more speed. As well as a cobbled area around the hive which can be customised easily despite the fire activity since the special visible wind during the fight prevent fire spreading in a radius bigger than the weed spread. Any fires around are also extinguished once the Hibees Queen is defeated to prevent the whole place going ablaze and the flowers of the hive can be picked again.

While it can be beneficial to move out of the area to heal or restock on some important components of the fight, staying away for too long could result in the boss leaving at any moment of the fight if unsolicited for too long since she has a smaller area patrolling than Bee Queen to keep the action nearby the Spiny Bindweeds and where she has a manageable attack speed. So team of multiple players would usually do better to alternate breaks instead of leaving all at the same time.

Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Hibees Queen when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain and Mimic Darts are not included due to the random nature of their projectile.

Prototype.png Tips

  • Given there can be only one Lord of the Fruitfly on the map, it is possible to spawn him somewhere on the map before fighting the Hibees Queen and he won't show up during the battle, preventing Fire Nettles and extra weeds from Fruit Flies.
