Fairyflies
Fairyflies are passive light-producing Mobs that appear at night in the Cherry Forest. They are used to make Cherry Gems. Fairyflies can also be used to refuel Miner Hats and Lanterns by 39%.
Fairyflies act like reversed Fireflies: they emit light only while players are near them and stays in the dark when nobody is around. They don't last forever and will stave if emitting light or in the inventory for a whole day. But they can be fed with Petals to reset their hunger.
Approaching Fairyflies and standing by their light helps against Charlie attacks at night. Players can observe the name displayed to see if the Fairyflies are "Hungry" or "Starving", meaning they don't have much time left.
One group of Fairyflies will respawn at the Cherry Stone each Spring if there is none around it.
Reputation

Fairyflies will not produce lights for players that have a reputation inferior to 40%.
Players that maximised their reputation no longer cause Fairyflies to slowly perish from making light.
