The Cherrylings are friendly Passives Mobs that live in the Cherry Forest. They look like a big living Cherry, growing and spawning from Cheerful Trees during Dusk & Night outside of Winter. They can be befriended by feeding them (fruits, veggies, ...) for 3 minutes per food up to a day and a half (12 minutes) or by waving at them as Wirlywings for infinite loyalty.
They fly and emit light from their stem's bulb to help during the night or in caves equipment-free. They may also produce a good amount of Cherry Gems if "ranched" correctly.
Upon death, a Cherryling will drop either a Cherry (66%), or a Light Bulb (33%).
Usage
Farming
Cherrylings will only pick up and eat Petals off the floor, taking the entire stack, but they will eat any fruits and vegetables given by hand and become a follower.
In addition of picking their habitat most common food, they also gather Seeds (not specific crop seeds, unless given by hand). While they have seeds in the inventory :
- Blossoms will grow on their stem to show if they carry none, few or lots of seeds.
- They will have a 2% chance +1% per additional seed to produce a Cherry Gem when they are done eating something.
- When produced, they will consume all the seeds from a single slot of their inventory, so up to 40 but this will never consume different types of seeds a once per gem produced.
- Meaning a good way to produce lots of gems is to have a good balance of many, and different seeds.
A good setup for farming would be to have a few Cheerful Trees in a same area as a "Cherryling Ranch" and deposit a bunch of small stacks of Seeds and Petals on the floor so multiple Cherrylings can make use of them and return a few gems.
Combat
Surprisingly, Cherrylings can be useful in combat, they may not fight but can keep the aggro of hostile creatures as they tend to keep them running due to their fast movement.
Considering this, you can use Cherrylings as distraction during Hounds attacks. It is also possible to give hats and helmets to Cherrylings to protect them.
As Wirlywings, players can also unlock 2 methods from her skills to deal damage from Cherrylings directly as projectile that deal 20 damage:
- The first from "Cherry Throwing" which allow to grab and carry befriended Cherrylings, which can then be thrown to taunt an enemy and keep the aggro on Cherrylings. Or transfert it back on Wirlywings by grabbing it back. This perk also allow to collect any seeds and hat on them.
- Alternatively, any player can use the Geo Scepter if it was unlocked by her "Lost Print II" skill which allow to command befriended Cherrylings to headbutts targets one at a time every 3 seconds, so the more Cherrylings befriended, the better is the uptime. Cherrylings can also be turned into Cherrylimes or vise versa by using the scepter spell on them. This will turn off their light and slow their projectile speed but increase health to 500 and damage to 40.
Lighting
Befriended Cherrylings are a loyal light source. They will accelerate to keep up with fast moving players and make space while in combat, but remain close enough to not leave players in the dark, unless they need to escape from their attackers. Wirlywings "BFF I" skill will also allow her Cherrylings to make ~20% more light.
Cherrylings can be brought to the caves by planting Cherry Gems down here to grow their homes. And during Acid Rains, they will be infused similarly to bats but that is a good thing as it grants them 25% movement speed and a light radius increase, and may drop Cherry Gems on death.
Hide & Cherries and Trading
- For more information about the Minigame, see Cherry Stone.
- For more informations to the table loot, see Geode.
It it possible to exchange following Cherrylings for Geodes at the Cherry Stone, you can exchange up to 4 Cherrylings by touching it.
If you have at least 5 Cherrylings, they will be transformed into Cherrylimes and will start the Hide & Cherries minigame.
These two actions both have a 3 days cooldown but offers a lot of resources in exchange.
Combat
Cherrylings are innocent creatures and builds 4 Naughtiness points if killed. This also lowers the Forest's Reputation of the player that caused their death, even indirectly such as by using followers or traps.
They will typically run away from players that have a low reputation which makes catching up to them complicated.
Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Cherryling when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain and Mimic Darts are not included due to the random nature of their projectile.

It takes 1 blast to freeze a Cherryling with an Ice Staff and 1 Sleep Dart to put Cherryling to sleep.
Trivia
- Their light can be blocked while wearing hats without an open-top.
- Cherrylings have personalities, with different idle animations when bored between each individuals.
- They will also occasionally wave at players with enough reputation (40% >), this is one of many useful indicators.
- Warly quote is a reference to Cristina Córdula, a French TV presenter for often using that same catchphrase that says "ma chériiiie" instead.
- They are "fruit" bats, hence why they can be affected by acid rain.
